This weeks Science Saturday comes courtesy of RoomSketcher. RoomSketcher is a software that allows you to create 3D images. The people at RoomSketcher have recreated the apartments of the main characters from The Big Bang Theory.
You can see example images here.
Now I’m not an aficionado of design software, but have plenty of friends in the field, whom I know would love this. I have great admiration for computer literate people, particularly those who are able to combine their ICT knowledge with their creativity to help visualise ideas and concepts. So I was rather interested in the idea of this software.
I have some more details about the design process, for fellow fact fans:
It took 5hrs to create the apartment and furnish it to match the TV show set!
There is a 360 view from “Sheldon’s Spot” http://applet.roomsketcher.com/widget/?ctxt=pro_no&l=en&w=home360&gid=13222329 So we now can see exactly why his spot is so good!
All images and features can be created with a RoomSketcher VIP account.
You can also tour the apartments in 3D! Check out the link here.
If you want to see what someone (who is more experienced in design then I am) has to say about it click here.
What do you think? Is this something you could see yourself using? If you do, please send me a link to check out your designs!
p.s. If this software is something you think you’d like to try, please contact me as there is the chance to preview it (for one lucky reader).
