Fans of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl series are in for a treat. This time the protagonists are a ne’er do well boy from Victorian London and a young FBI agent. Together they travel back in time to solve murders and mysteries. The characters are written descriptively as are the imaginative scenes in both modern day and Victorian London. I didn’t enjoy this as much as I did the Artemis Fowl books, although I did still appreciate the story and the chance to delve into a well-written example of a genre I hadn’t read in a while.
I will be reading the next in the series, as I think this unlikely pair of heroes will grow on me.
